Do You Use Adsense?
If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!
Adsense is cool right? Putting Google Ads all over my site will make me tons of money right?
Well… perhaps if you have either an extremely high traffic website, or have a zillion sites with decent traffic, then yes.. you may see a reasonable Adsense Income.
I used to think along the same lines, even up to a few months ago I kept thinking that I needed to get more websites online and get some adsense blocks on them.. but then my thinking changed, and I’ll tell you why.
My take on the whole Adsense game is this: If I want to throw up a series of websites that are full of Private Label content (content someone else wrote, but I can claim as my own - but then again, so can hundreds of other people!), and display the maximum number of Adsense ads that I’m allowed - well.. this isn’t a difficult concept, and yeah.. I could easily do this.
But…. Why?
Why would I want to encourage visitors that I’ve worked hard to get to my site,
to leave it by clicking on a Google ad? Oh yeah, I forgot - I ‘may’ make a good
chunk of change from that click. Or, I may make a few cents.
ยป Recommendation
Wouldn’t a better way of doing things be to set up a website after researching and writing my own content and perhaps including some expert articles from other sources. While busy researching, I’m also hunting down affiliate products that I can recommend to my visitors, products or services that my visitors will find attractive and things that fit in with the theme of the site.
Compare the commissions you’ll make: A few cents from Adsense clicks vs a 25-50% commission (or more!) on an affiliate product or service.
Not to mention that I’ll then be keeping my hard earned visitors on my own website,
and I’ll have a better chance of adding them to my contact list. If they don’t make a purchase today, at least I can keep in touch with them and build that relationship.
Of course, I’m not saying that it’s an absolutely horrible idea to use Adsense on your website, or that you can’t build a contact list if you have Adsense on your website!! If someone is determined to leave your site, their going to regardless of what content is on it lol.
I’ve chosen to remove all adsense blocks from a few of my sites, and from what I’ve witnessed so far, it has been beneficial to building my contact list on these sites. More people are visiting pages other than the one they arrive on, and are remaining on the site longer. More people are signing up to receive my newsletters, and this means that I’m now building relationships with more people.
Work At Home Moms in many cases, need to make money online and it’s very easy to fall into traps that may look like a terrific idea, but I’d like to encourage you to really think it through.. is it really as beneficial as it may sound?
Are you going to have enough time each and every day to promote your website, gain backlinks, write blog posts, and everything else that will need to be done for each and every website you build in order to gain enough traffic to actually make some money off of your Adsense ads? These things take time, and the more sites you have, the longer it can take.. especially when you’re dividing your time between sites, family, laundry and everything else us Moms have to do in a day
Think about it, I’d love to hear your opinions!
Wishing you the best of success!

I agree wholeheartedly with you, Dianne! I removed all Adsense ads a long time ago from my Fuller Brush website. The account accumulated only a few dollars and, to me, wasn’t worth having people jump off my site so quickly! I would rather they spend time on my site enjoying not only reading about and purchasing Fuller products, but also the free Cleaning Tips that I offer, sending free e-cards, etc.
I think it is much better also to build a rapport and trust with your customers and serving their needs while they are visiting!
Sincerely,
Patty Zasloff
I TOTALLY agree with you - you’ve hit the nail on the head! I’ve found that a blend of adsense and affiliate links work best for me, but only because it’s a pure original content site. Content written by ME of course, not someone else writting with my name. I will never understand buying content.
Thanks Patty & Kara
Unfortunately with all the advertising out there about Adsense templates, things are going to get worse before they get better. Newbies hear ‘easy money’, but don’t realize that until they have traffic, there’s not going to be ANY $$
Oh Kara.. just wait lol.. I have a few things to say about how to use Ghost Writers
Stay Tuned!
Hello…Thanks for the nice read, keep up the interesting posts..what a nice Thursday
Some good and interesting points.
Ya know, I’ve been using Google Adsense for so long that I don’t even give it a second thought. It’s like a habit.
I have been noticing that a lot of webmaster/web site owners are starting to remove their adsense ads. I think I need to give this some more thought.
Thanks…
