It’s my life
It’s now or never
I ain’t gonna live forever
I just want to live while I’m aliveBon Jovi - Crush - 2000
Some things you may not know about me:
1. I have 2 kids.. Ice Princess (my figure skating daughter), and Little Monster (my 3 y/o cross between BamBam & Dennis The Mennis) hehe.
2. I’m 35 years old
3. I have 3 tattoo’s and am planning my 4th
4. My best friend helped me discover ’80’s hair bands when I was a mear 10 years old (she was 16 hehe)… She rescued me from the likes of Duran Duran, Michael Jackson and I’m scared to even attempt to think of any more lol. In 1980, I was introduced to KISS, Motley Crue, Iron Maiden, AC/DC, Helix, Lee Aaron, Lita Ford..
I remember working at a Quality Records factory in Toronto with my best friend,
and while packing tapes one day, I happened to see someone I’d never heard of before.. the name on the tape was - Bon Jovi. One of the perks of working there was we were often given freebies. I asked if I could grab a Bon Jovi tape, and have been a huge fan ever since (It was even better considering the tape hadn’t been released yet! We were packing the very first shipments to ever hit the shelves). I also recall blasting ‘Runaway’ at all hours of the day and night, much to my parents chagrin
As a big city kid, I was exposed to A LOT that I don’t think any child should be exposed too.. and today, married with 2 kids and living in a huge community of 1400 people, 40 minutes outside the nearest city, I’m very thankful that my 11 year old daughter is as innocent as she is.
Don’t get me wrong, I loved growing up in Toronto - I had a blast
For the most part I was a good kid. I knew when I was pushing things too far. I was often told that I acted much older than I really was… but still, I’m thankful that I don’t have to worry about my kids in the same ways that my parents worried about me (or perhaps I should say… as I’m sure my parents worried about me lol). I learned many life lessons between the ages of 10 - 18, some which I’m sure would scare the daylights out of you.. but everything that happened to me during those years, helped to shape me into the person that I am today.
I realized today that I really don’t have much personal info on this blog.. ok, well it is a business blog lol, but still. I really have nothing to hide. I’ve learned a lot and have grown as a person because of my experiences.
My life has turned into something that none of my friends ever thought they’d see. While many of them are still single and doing the party scene (or married and still partying), Glenn and I are home with our kids every night. The only real babysitters our kids have had are Papa & Nanny, who make special trips from Toronto to spend time with their grandkids.
Today I believe that I am right where I was meant to be. I’m a full time work at home mom, who can be here to run my daughter to all her skating lessons (4 days a week), I don’t have to worry about my son being at the babysitters all day long - together we decide if he’d like to go to the sitters for a few hours to play with some friends, but if he doesn’t feel like it, then we have time to play together…
I value each and every relationship that I have with my online friends. I truly consider them my friends - we may not be able to meet for a cup of coffee, in fact I’ve never met them face to face, but I love knowing they’re there for me as I am for them.
Ok… now back to business! lol

Thank goodness you were rescued from 80’s hair bands! I heard more of the “The Reflex” in that time than I care to remember.
I have a few years on you, and while I never worked in a record store (yes, we had vinyl), I actually met Charlie Daniels once while I was in high school. What a blast that was.
I hear ya about big city / small town thing. I grew up on Long Island.. otherwise known as Lawwng Islan’ and now live in a town of about 12,000. I look out my home office window and there are silos and corn fields across the street.
Bands I’m into? Hmm.. I’ll listen to just about anything these days.
Patty
uumm.. Charlie Who???
This year, right next door we have a huge soy bean field (last year it was corn.. they rotate lol), again.. a coincidence? hhhmm, I have to wonder Patty!
My Dad was a disc jockey… Tie A Yellow Ribbon Round The Old Oak Tree kinda dj lol - in fact I still have his vinyl collection!! Not that I have a record player though lol.
My daughter has no clue what a real record even looks like!
Dianne
Ha ha!!! I was a disc jockey in college… but don’t tell anybody, o.k.? I had a radio show on the college radio station, worked in the con campus pub spinning records on Friday afternoons (when 18 year olds could still legally drink) and worked in a local off-campus bar spinning on Saturday nights.
My major was broadcast -journalism.
See? Now YOU learned something about me that you didn’t know before.
Patty
Well, I knew you were a broadcast-journalism major, but not that you were a DJ
That must have been a hoot lol.
Hate to tell you this, but up here, north of the border our drinking age IS 18!! Now that I’m well past that age though, I wish they’d increase it to 21 lol.
Dianne
Everybody has their own way of life….. proud moment and embarrassing moment
Keep up sharing your wonderful knowledge and experience of work at home mums, Dianne.
