If you celebrate Christmas, I truly hope that yours was wonderful! If you don’t celebrate Christmas, I hope you still took the day to enjoy your family and friends.

Our Christmas was fantastic! We live over 2 hours away from our family so each year after opening presents we get the family packed up and make the trek to Toronto to spend a few days. The remainder of Christmas day was spent with my husband’s family, and on Boxing Day, my family gathered at my brothers house.

It’s always a busy time of year, and yet we seem to thrive on the chaos that surrounds us… however with the New Year rapidly approaching, chaos has been something that I’ve been thinking about a lot.

More often than not, I feel like my business is nothing other than ‘chaos’. Even my main website feels chaotic to me. I’m always jumping from one project to the next, and honestly… I’m plain and simply tired of it and I’m NOT going to do it any more.

Chaos is NOT for us. In order to take your business to the next level, many of us first need to admit that there is an element of fear involved… fear of taking that next step… fear of the unknown. However, we need to plan well for that next step – in which case, we need to go back to the beginning.

My question to you is this: Do You Have A Business Plan?

When I first jumped into business, I did so blindly and I found myself fumbling along rather blindly as well. Until I took the time to sit down and create a business plan. Since then, though I do get lost every once in a while, I make sure that I’m on track with my business plan and at least twice a year I go through the entire thing and adjust it where necessary to ensure that my business continues to grow.

Many work at home moms skip the business planning step though.. whether it’s lack of knowledge, or fear of the unknown I’m not 100% certain. 2007 is time to start anew. If you have a business plan, dig it out and get it updated for the coming year. Review your advertising and marketing campaigns, what worked, what didn’t and adjust where necessary.

If you’ve never completed a business plan, today’s the day to take the plunge and get started. I’m making this sound like it’s a scary step when in reality, it’s not. Yes it may take some time to put together, however the benefits of having a plan in place far outweigh the lack of a business plan.
