Have you ever heard the phrase “you were born with it”? Perhaps it was in reference to your eye color, your body type, or maybe even artistic traits that seem to come naturally to you. I know that when it comes to floral arrangements, if it’s more difficult than unwrapping the bouquet, I’m lost. Yet my mother-in-law and both of my sister-in-laws are very talented floral designers. In addition to that, my grandmother-in-law is extremely crafty and used to run her own crafting business, and still teaches crafts for her Women’s Institute. Sounds like the artistic touch runs in the family – is it in their genes?

When it comes to the genes that we inherit from generations before us, there are still a lot of questions left unanswered. In his article “DNA Of An Entrepreneur“, Greg Watson takes a closer look at the possibility of being born with an entrepreneurial mind. This is a fascinating subject, and one that I must congratulate Greg for tackling in the manner that he has.

After an indepth look at the characteristics most often found in entrepreneurs, Greg create’s the following definition:

“Entrepreneurs have a need to achieve; and once having done so,
the need to do it all over again.” – Greg Watson

After reading the entire article several times, I must say that the conclusions that Greg comes to are more than reasonable. I strongly believe that in order to be successful, you must be comfortable with yourself and believe in what you’re doing. You also need to have the passion for success.

Do I believe that Entrepreneurs are Born? Yes, I do. Though I’ll also stick to my personal belief that with the right training, new qualities, skills and characteristics can also be learned.
