In recent weeks, the ownership of Entrecard has quietly changed over. Graham is still on board as an advisor, but there is now a new team in charge and with them change is coming.
Some of the more recent “features” that were brought on board such as the Paid Advertisements are now history. That’s right.. the new owners listened and no more paid advertisers are being accepted. Once all the current paid advertisements have been displayed, the feature will be done away with completely. To reflect this change, I’ll be making updates to my 300 No Paid Ads list in the coming days.
Along with paid advertisements biting the dust, so shall the “Cashout” feature. Obviously if the money isn’t coming in, they can’t very well pay it out now can they? So if you’ve been contemplating cashing out some of your credits, now is the time to do so as you won’t be able to receive cash for credits much longer.
Additionally, what I consider to be the biggest news, deals with the ongoing Entrecard credit inflation problem. In a recent blog post new Director of Business Development, Cindy Ung states:
Entrecard will no longer give Entrecard credits to the person receiving a drop. In other words, instead of awarding 2 credits for each drop (one to the dropper and one to the blog site owner), only 1 credit will be given to the dropper. This change will be effective September 1, 2009 and will last until further notice.
I’m not entirely sure how I feel about this one just yet (but that’s probably just greed on my part right? lol). I’ve seen some bloggers that are thrilled about this change, while others are totally against it, and still others fall into my category – we just aren’t sure how it will play out.
And finally, the 1,000 EC credit transfer is being bumped up to 25,000 credits. THAT is awesome :)
Regarding the Entrecard toolbar that hasn’t worked at all since the latest update of Firefox, I received notification tonight that Entrecard has finally come out with a new toolbar that specifically works with Firefox 3.5 – I’ve already installed it and have it up and running. Man, have I ever missed my toolbar and am really glad that it’s back!!
I’m just getting back into the swing of things in the EC world, but I guarantee you that if you drop, I’ll definitely return the favor :)

I in the wait and see mode too. I am thrilled that the paid ads will be leaving. I didn’t care for that at all.
I love having the toolbar and the greasemonkey features return. It sure makes dropping much easier and faster.
Have a terrific day. :)
Definitely makes dropping much easier :) Now if only they’d put a function on the toolbar to remove sites from your favorites.. it’s such a pain getting that done! lol
I am glad to see the cashout part gone. With the cashout gone I feel that some of the bloggers that were just there to drop and cashout are now gone and I’m receiving and returning drops with bloggers that really put effort into maintaining quality blogs instead of having to sort through so many splog type blogs.
I also am not sure how I feel about blogs not getting credit for drops made to their blog. When I’m sure on time I still hit all the blogs that I think are the best because they deserve those credits. I feel bad that they won’t benefit from that with the new system.
Tina T´s last blog ..Can Just One Person Save a Marriage?
I guess we’re playing the waiting game Tina, to see how all of this works out. I’m doing my best to drop 300 cards per day to ensure that I’m getting those 300 credits daily for sure. I agree about the cashout system!!
