How Do You Keep Up With All Your Social Networking Sites?

I’m having a slight problem here… I believe I’m a tad overwhelmed with everything I’ve got on the go, and trying to figure out how to make it all work together. Social networking is the coolest concept since the TV was invented, but much like trying to figure out how to watch 5 different shows that are all on during the same time slot (ok.. now we have PVR and TIVO lol), social networking can creep right on in there and attempt to take over your life.

Here’s my current networking list:

Twitter http://www.twitter.com/diannef
Facebook http://profile.to/diannef/
You Tube Logo http://www.youtube.com/user/DianneFratscher
Entrecard Logo http://entrecard.com/details/41365
Digg Logo http://digg.com/users/wahmdianne
FriendFeed logo http://friendfeed.com/diannef
Stumbleupon logo http://diannef.stumbleupon.com/
Blog Catalog Logo http://www.blogcatalog.com/user/Diannef
MyBlogLog logo http://www.mybloglog.com/buzz/members/Diannef/
Qassia http://diannef.qassia.com/
Technorati http://www.technorati.com/people/technorati/wahmsunited

I’m sure there are more too… Qassia for example is one that I just joined on a recommendation from Angie, my partner over at Frugal Wahms Talk Radio, so I still have to start actively participate in that one.

Whenever I make a new blog post, it automatically gets posted to Twitter, and as I have my Twitter account set up in Friend Feed, it also updates Friend Feed killing two birds with one stone. Blog posts are also updated on my Entrecard profile, Blog Catalog and My Blog Log, in addition to both Twitter posts and blog posts being updated on my Facebook account.

My Stumbles will also be updated on my Facebook account, as well as Friend Feed, and I can submit them as content to Qassia (when I get it all figured out lol). Then of course there’s Digg - my account there is brand new so I haven’t dugg anything yet, or had anything dugg that I know of but I am working on adding over 300 friends from Entrecard (confusing huh?!)

I think what I need to do is while I’m dropping, I have to take a look at the first few blog posts and if I enjoy them, I need to give it a thumbs up on stumble, and digg it before I leave the site. I always try to read through the posts anyway, but until now haven’t paid much attention to the aspects of any other social networking sites. The key is to make them all work together with as little effort as possible.

I’m looking forward to next week’s 30 Day Challenge pre-season lessons when Ed will be teaching us more about Friend Feed. He’s mentioned it a few times the last few weeks but will go in depth next week.

Anyway, I guess my biggest thing is getting the time management aspect of everything under control so that I’m doing something constructive with my time. Any tips? Am I missing any social networking sites from my list?

Bloggers Unite - Acts Of Kindness

Tagged Under : , ,

Acts of Kindness. We don’t hear nearly enough about acts of kindness in todays world, which is one reason I’m very thankful for Bloggers Unite. Today we took action, by blogging about acts of kindness that we’ve participated in. Even something as simple as a smile can brighten a persons day - when was the last time you smiled at a stranger… just because?

Sunday we experienced a major winter storm that shut down highways, caused numerous accidents and generally shut down a good portion of our Province (Ontario, Canada). The storm that started with freezing rain in the early morning hours then proceeded to dump 30-40cm of snow in my immediate area. Getting anywhere yesterday was nearly impossible, however I decided to spend almost an hour digging out and thawing out my van to make the trek into town to pick up some staple items.

Before I left home though, I picked up the phone and started calling my neighbours and friends to see if they were in need of anything from town. We live at the end of the street, with a farmers field as our next door neighbour. Most of the others on our street are elderly, or with major medical conditions. Three out of the 8 families I called took me up on my offer to pick up basics for them, milk, bread, eggs.. nothing major, but simple things that we don’t often consider until we run out and there’s no getting out to the store to pick up more.

This morning after the storm had passed, my husband headed outside to dig out our neighbours tractor, which he used to plow out the snow from everyone on our street. The snow was very deep, and with it sitting overnight it was heavy. Considering the age and health of many people in our community, coupled with the fact that we are rural, being able to get vehicles in and out of our area can make the difference between life and death.

Snow Storm 3

87% of what we hear in the world is negative. Are you doing something to change the world for the better each and every day? Smiles are contagious you know ;)
