How Can I Do It All?

Tagged Under : , , ,

desk pileIn today’s Frugal Wahms Talk Radio show, the question of ‘how can I do it all’ came up. You’ve taught yourself to build and develop a website, you’ve figured out the basics of SEO, you have your own product that you’ve designed and created, you’re learning about marketing and posting ads everywhere you know your target market is hanging out…

But, you feel like you’re sitting in front of your computer working on your business 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You hardly see your family and they’re getting upset with the mess of the house, the laundry that’s piling up, and the fact that you barely have time to get the kids ready for bed let alone finding the time to play with them.

All you can think about is another change that needs to be done on your website, an email that you need to reply to, an order that needs to be processed, or one of a myriad of other things that runs through the mind of a work at home mom at any given moment.

The bottom line is that you are only human (not wonder woman! sorry to burst your bubble lol). Find the one thing in your business that you excel at (and enjoy), and stick with it and see about outsourcing all the rest. If you need time to deal with customers and product creation, then stick with that side of things and outsource your website maintenance to ease your burden. If you find that you have the time for your website, customers and products but don’t have the time to actually get out there and advertise your business, hire someone experienced with public relations and advertising.

Why struggle for 3 hours over a website update that would take a web designer a matter of minutes to accomplish, when you could be doing something more productive with your own time.

  • An accountant can handle your bookkeeping needs for you.
  • A copywriter can create articles and submit them to article directories for you, in addition to writing powerful sales copy.
  • A website developer can install scripts, and make updates to your website.

Some people find it hard to “let go” in the beginning and I know how difficult it can be to trust others with your business, in addition to the financial commitment involved. But I assure you once you have a quality outsource network in place you’ll be amazed by how much more productive and profitable your company becomes.

Outsourcing is not a sign of weakness, instead it’s a sign that you know how to handle and organize your workload efficiently. It can allow you to take on more work than you could on your own, and that means greater profits. Whether it’s everyday tasks or projects requiring great expertise, outsourcing as needed is good for your business.

Tagged Under : , , , , , , , , , ,

The January Issue of Wahm Business Magazine is online now. Our newest edition is full of terrific Wahm resources!

Goals Setting For 2008
Every person in the world devotes countless hours to thinking of their future and their present situation in life. Almost everyone wishes that there was something that they could change in their life. Whether it is their family life; their friendships; relationships or finances, everyone wants to change something. The first step to doing that is to set goals.

Dealing with Wahm Stereotypes
One of the hardest issues to contend with as a Wahm is the perception of others that you aren’t working. Many people think that working at home isn’t working at all, and that you have all of the free time in the world. Those who have spent any time working at home know that there is a lot of time and energy that goes into effectively working at home. Friends who call in the middle of the day, spouses who expect you to be doing more while home or family members who m…

Tax Deductions for Home-Based Business Owners
Running a home-based business entitles you to a number of income tax deductions. In this article, writer Amy Derby offers some exellent income tax advice for home businesses. If you run a home-based business, there are many tax deductions available to you.

Analyzing Website Traffic
Analyzing your web traffic statistics can be an invaluable tool for a number of different reasons. But before you can make full use of this tool, you need to understand how to interpret the data.

Let Them Play
The purpose of a craft show or home party is to attract customers. You are also giving them the chance to touch, play, or try on the products. Telling them not to touch is going to have them moving on as quickly as possible.

Run a Home Business with Incentive Vacation Certificates
It is possible to run a very lucrative home business using inventive vacation certificates as its basis. Vacation certificates are becoming very popular and are appearing in more and more online marketing campaigns and they are being increasingly used in the marketing strategies of many offline businesses.

Casual Casserole
You may serve this meal-in-one from the roaster as is, or if you would like to fancy it up, set roaster on large piece of colored foil (from a florist) and gather sides upward. Tie foil in place with a wide ribbon. Do all the vegetable preparation in the morning as there is a lot to do.

If You Don’t Test It Now…
I Every Coder in Codeville liked objects a lot.
“Tested,” “reusable,” that’s what was hot.
But the Grinch of reality sulked in his cave
Saying, “Hear them all talk of the time that they’ll save!”

Business Goals For 2008

Tagged Under : , , , , , , ,

It’s that time of year again, when one should be reflecting on the past year and updating one’s business plan.

I’ve been putting some thought into my business goals for 2008 and here’s what I’ve got so far:

  1. Bring on new authors for the monthly online Wahms United Home Business Magazine. I currently have 1 author lined up who will be submitting Direct Sales articles each month and that is Kara Kelso from 2wahms.com and MomsMarketOnline.com. Are you an expert? If so and you are interested in contributing one article per month that will be featured in our monthly magazine, contact me! I’d love to hear from you :)
  2. Write 3 - 4 informative blog posts per week. I keep slipping in this area, yet I’m resolving my determination to get ‘er done.
  3. Comment on 5 - 10 blogs per week - I’ll be using the very cool Comment Kahuna software to find targeted blogs to comment on. If you haven’t heard of Comment Kahuna, check it out - it’s free!
  4. Become a Senior Manager with Send Out Cards. I love SOC and how it’s helping my business grow. I’m getting referrals from my customers simply because I send them ‘just because’ cards letting them know how much I appreciate their business. If you’re interested in a unique way to increase business, I’d love to talk to you about the opportunity that Send Out Cards has for you!
  5. Increase subscribers to the Wahm Business Club by 500 members - this is a thrilling goal for me. The WBC just recently received a huge makeover and now I’m working on adding in TONS of terrific content including courses on SEO, Increasing Traffic, Blogging, List Building, Marketing and just tons and tons of great stuff for our members. Membership is on now for only $10.00 annually and it will be increasing in the New Year :)

I’ve already begun to work on a mind map which will help me with my organization and work flow. Have you tried mind mapping? I love seeing my outlines come to life in a graphical way that’s easy to understand. I’ll be sharing some of my mindmaps here soon.

Mind Map Give mind mapping a try for free with EDraw Mind Map. Why do I like mind mapping? I’m a visual person who likes seeing everything laid out before me in an organized manner. It works for me, and it works for millions of other mind mappers :) By using mind maps, I can start off with my large goals, break them down according to business, and break them down even further into monthly benchmarks which are stepping stones to be celebrated on my path to my large goals.
